Del Avail – Unprocessed Logs (per 100kg)

Description

In buying logs to process we get a percentage that are a challenge to process in our machine – they might be

1. oversize – our machine is designed for logs to 500mm diameter, which makes it ideal for processing timber too small for milling, but awkward with logs at the limit.
2. bent – the logs are handled on a log deck and conveyor, so even a small bend makes them difficult and time consuming
3. otherwise unsuitable – perhaps split a half log or even too small to be efficient.

We stack these logs to one side and sell them to people who are happy to wield a chain saw and cut their own firewood.  They are sold by weight – per 100kg – we weigh them as we sling them onto the trailer or truck with the hiab and round down the nearest 100kg.  They cost about one third of the equivalent weight in processed firewood.
